You Are Not Late for Anything

Writer's picture: Melissa Corley CarterMelissa Corley Carter

There are a lot of societal norms and expectations around goal-setting and hitting the ground running on January 1st.

If that's your jam and it works for you, go for it and enjoy!

If you tend to struggle with new year's "resolutions" or feel like everyone else has this figured out except you, trust that you're not alone.

January 1st is an arbitrary date that is not actually in sync with the cycles of nature.

Nature — at least in the northern hemisphere — is still restoring, regenerating, and recalibrating.

You're allowed to do this too.

You're allowed to take the time your body and soul need to rest, restore, regenerate, and feel into your intentions for the year ahead.

Lao Tzu profoundly observed, "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

Trust that everything your soul is truly here for will be accomplished.

Wherever you are in your journey of growth and evolution, let yourself be there. Wherever you are in your goal-setting or intention-setting process for the year ahead, let yourself be there.

Let go of the pressure to do it all yesterday.

Pause, breathe, and be kind to yourself.

Let the magic happen at its own pace.

You are not late for anything.
